Викторианская готическая новелла: к проблеме исторической поэтики

Аннотация


Ко второй половине XIX в. наблюдается спад популярности «черного романа», к тому времени существующего в  виде многочисленных имитаций. Однако сложившаяся формульность готического канона, отразившаяся в традиции выстраивания пространственной парадигмы, образной системы и композиции, была воспринята и адаптирована к условиям и вкусам викторианской Англии и нашла свое продолжение в малой прозаической форме. Именно готическая новелла считается законным преемником готического романа, и развитие данной жанровой формы является доказательством высокой продуктивности готической литературной традиции. В данной статье делается попытка описать истоки формирования готической новеллы, определившие своеобразие британской «литературной сказки о  призраках». Особое внимание уделяется трансформациям основных поэтологических характеристик готического канона при переходе от романной формы к  новеллистической. Исследованию подлежат изменения следующих уровней: расширение поэтологического арсенала классического готического хронотопа благодаря «обытовлению» пространственной доминанты и  отсутствию исторической дистанции; композиционное редуцирование, связанное с  необходимостью создания «единого впечатления» и  концентрации на одном сверхъестественном происшествии; и,  наконец, изменения персонажной системы и  обогащение художественных образов через актуализацию гендерной и  социальной проблематики. Особое внимание будет уделено тому, как изменения культурного и общественного контекста отразились на трансформации жанровых категорий и почему именно традиционные элементы готического канона оказались наиболее удобным инструментом для выражения обеспокоенности в связи с высоким темпом прогресса, с появлением разнообразных научных течений и общественных настроений.
